Author Guidelines

The full guidance for authors — article types, word limits, anonymisation, required statements, timelines and costs — is on the publisher's site: avlorynpublications.org/for-authors. That page is the authority; what follows is the short version you need in front of you while you submit.

Article types and length

Counts exclude the abstract, references, tables and figure captions. If your paper is 10% over, submit it and say why in the cover note; the handling editor decides. Abstract of 250 words or fewer, unstructured, with 4–6 keywords.

Two files, because review is double-anonymous

File 1 — the manuscript. No author names, affiliations, acknowledgements or funding statement. Refer to your own earlier work in the third person (“Kumar (2024) showed”), not as “our previous work”. Remove identifying information from the file properties.

File 2 — the title page, uploaded separately: title, all authors with affiliations and ORCIDs, the corresponding author's contact details, acknowledgements, funding, and the declarations listed below.

Formatting — do not spend time on it

Send us the paper in whatever format you already have it in. Word or PDF, any layout a reviewer can read. We will not ask you to reformat a paper we have not yet accepted, and after acceptance the formatting is our work, not yours: copyediting and typesetting are done here, and you see a proof to check before publication.

What we do need is the content: title, abstract, keywords, the body as the work requires, declarations, references, and tables and figures with captions. Units are SI. Where you cite a standard, give its full designation and year — for example IS 2720 (Part 5): 1985 — because a standard without a year is not a citation.

References

Submit in Harvard, IEEE or APA — whichever you already use — as long as one style is used consistently throughout. We publish in APA 7, and we convert your references during copyediting.

Please include a DOI for every reference that has one. This matters more than it looks: it lets your reference list be rebuilt accurately in the journal's style instead of retyped, which is how errors get introduced into other people's citations.

Figures, tables and data

Figures at 300 dpi or better, each with a caption that can be understood without the body text. Tables as editable text, never as images — an image of a table cannot be read by a screen reader or indexed. You must hold the rights to every figure you include; where one is reproduced or adapted, written permission must be obtained and the source credited.

Declarations, on the title page

Conflict of interest — all financial and non-financial interests. “None” is a valid answer and is published as such. Data availability — where the underlying data is, or why it cannot be shared; client-owned or safety-sensitive data is a legitimate reason, said plainly. AI use — any AI tool used in preparing the manuscript, naming the tool and what it did; this applies to every tool from every company, and you remain responsible for everything in your paper. Funding and CRediT roles for each author.

Related and overlapping work

If any part of this work has appeared elsewhere, or if you have another paper under consideration that draws on the same study, say so at submission and attach it. Disclosed overlap is a normal editorial conversation. Undisclosed overlap found later is a retraction.

A preprint is not prior publication and has no bearing on our decision — post one whenever you like. Work formally published elsewhere, in a journal or as a proceedings paper of record, is prior publication and we will not consider it.

Cost

Volume 1 is free: no submission fee, no publication fee, no page or colour charges. If a charge is ever introduced, the rate in force on the day you submit applies to your paper — never the rate on the day it is accepted. Review time is ours to spend and must never cost you money.
